Scan through the internet forums and social networking sites and you will undoubtedly see many people discussing reverse cell phone lookups. Sites which offer such services are allowing people to enter a cell phone number and search databases to discover who owns the phone. Now, this sounds extremely useful, and is in fact the same kind of service that the residential phone companies offer for free. But there is a problem - the residential phone companies themselves allow the numbers to be used in this way, and allow people to remove their numbers from the databases. The cell databases are unofficial, not provided by the cell companies, and so there is a question of data security and even legality.
