Is It A Carpet Or A Rug?

Is It A Carpet Or A Rug?
Homeowner regularly refer to carpets as area rugs and vice versa but this is wrong. There are practical differences between the two. In the carpeting fraternity, the phrase area rug means a floor covering that can be simply removed; on the other hand carpeting means a fixed floor covering. Both sorts of floorings, however, are similarly made.

The value of carpets and area rugs are determined by their piles, which in essence is the number of threads woven per square inch. The larger the number of threads per square inch, the denser it is and the higher it is valued. Thus expensive plush carpeting consists of thousands of fibers per square inch.
